Coping with stress

Most of us have dealt with stress on some level at some point in our lives. It could be dealing with work, bills or home life...you know, just plain ole adulting. When that stress monster rears its ugly head, it could ruin a perfectly good time. Some of the symptoms of stress include headaches, digestive problems, change in appetite, weight loss, weight gain, change in sleep patterns, fatigue and achy muscles. Just enough to keep you in a bad mood right? Not only does stress affect your mood, but when not dealt with properly, stress can be the cause of many health issues such as heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure. Now for the good news. There are some things you can do daily that will help you in dealing with stress naturally.

1. Do some physical activities: The body releases endorphins during physical activity that helps reduce the perception of pain and also helps improve your quality of sleep.

2. Get more sleep: Your brain needs time to refuel itself so that you can concentrate, problem solve and respond quickly. What better time to do this than when your body is at rest? Getting more sleep also helps you feel refreshed, putting you in a better mood to start the day.

3. Find ways to relax your mind and body: Try yoga, massage sessions or meditation. Once you get your mind and body on the same path, everything else can fall into place.

4. Eat healthy: Remember you are what you eat. To keep a healthy mind and body, you must eat a healthy diet.

These ideas are a great place to start when dealing with stress. Addressing stress early on can help keep you on a path to a happy and healthy life.
